The EPHS Competition Dance team had their tryouts on Thursday, October 12th. Here are some special facts and information about the girls who made it on the dance team.
Sarai Quintanar
Starting with Sarai Quintanar who is a senior on the EPHS Competition Dance team, Sarai is 1 of 2 captains on the dance team. Her favorite dance style is contemporary because it’s technical and less strict but similar to ballet. Sarai has been in 3 fall seasons and this is her 4th competition season on this team. Her favorite thing about being on the dance team is being able to teach and work with other girls like how she used to be taught. She loves making the girls stronger dancers after working so hard herself.
Ashley Martir
Ashley is the second senior captain on the EPHS Competition Dance team. Her favorite dance style is hip-hop because she is very energetic and she uses it as a way of expressing herself. Ashley has been in 3 fall and competition seasons at EPHS. Ashley’s favorite thing about being on the dance team are the competitions because they always have fun as a team and they’re a great bonding experience.
Izel Torres
Izel is a junior on the EPHS Competition Dance team. She has been on the fall season team once and this is her second year on the competition team. Her favorite dance style is jazz and her favorite dance move is battement ballet. Izel’s favorite thing about being on the competition team is the bus rides because she has a lot of fun.
Marely Ruiz Anguiano
Marely is a sophomore on the EPHS Competition Dance team. This is her second year on the competition team. She was on the fall season team for the first time this year and had a lot of fun. Marely’s favorite dance move is turns because she thinks they look pretty. Her favorite thing about being on the dance team is the team bonding at practices and getting ready with the team before a performance.
Isabella Wernsing
Isabella is a sophomore on the EPHS Competition Dance team. Her favorite dance styles are jazz and hip-hop. Isebella first started dancing at Turning Point Dance Studio. She has been on the fall season team once and this is her first competition season on this team. Isabella’s favorite thing about this team is the team bonding while getting ready before a performance.
Era Baldos
Era is a sophomore on the EPHS Competition Dance team. Era first started dancing when she lived in the Philippines. She did fall season her freshman year, and this is her second year dancing on the competition team. Her favorite dance style is hip-hop because it’s the most fun in her opinion. Era’s favorite memory on the dance team is when the whole team celebrated a birthday at a hotel during competition season last year.
Emilia Blazejewska
Emilia is a sophomore on the EPHS Competition Dance team. Her favorite dance style is contemporary because she uses it as a way of expressing herself. Emilia has been in one fall season and this is her second competition season on this team. Her favorite thing about being on the dance team is the bus rides because they are always fun and she loves spending that time with everyone.
Emily Pazgan
Emily is a sophomore on the EPHS Competition Dance team. Her favorite dance styles are hip-hop and jazz. Emily’s favorite dance move is turns because she enjoys them the most. This is her second year doing competition season on the dance team. Her favorite memory is her first competition on this team because she had a lot of fun with the girls and loved the bus ride.
Celeste Vazquez
Celeste is a freshman on the EPHS Competition Dance team. Her favorite dance style is hip-hop because it’s fun and hypes up the crowd. Celeste has been on the fall season team 1 time, and this is her first competition season. Her favorite part of being on the dance team is getting ready with the girls before they perform and making TikToks with everyone.
These are the 9 girls who made the 2023-2024 Competition Dance team at EPHS. It’s difficult to make this team and these girls worked so hard to get here. Congratulations to all of the girls and good luck!
