The Fall season is a beautiful time for many people; it’s a season full of warm celebrations, spooky activities, sweater weather, family traditions, and the smell of pumpkin spice. With the overbearing stress regarding the beginning of the school year, there are countless activities we can participate in to keep our Fall spirit alive. These are EPHS’ favorites!
#1 – Pumpkin Patch
Taking the lead in votes, pumpkin patches easily earned the top spot. There’s something so otherworldly about visiting a pumpkin patch on a crisp, October evening. Students say it’s their number one fall tradition, whether they’re stopping by to select the perfect pumpkin to carve, wandering aimlessly through corn mazes, or capturing cute, autumn pictures with a group of friends! Pumpkin patches aren’t solely about pumpkins; they’re about the warm, apple cider; farm animals; caramel apples; and that snug feeling of fall that fills everyone with warmth. There’s no wonder it came out on top.

#2 – Apple Picking
Coming in a close second, apple picking! Students adore this classic autumn activity because it’s effortless, yet so fun. The vibe at an apple orchard is unmatched. Navigating the orchard in a big sweater while piling bags with apples is just magical. The votes are a dead giveaway of the fact that it’s not just about the fruit; it’s about the experience of strolling through tree lined rows and giggling with friends. Students say they enjoy taking their picks home and putting them to use, whether that be for an apple pie, a donut, or just eating them as is. It’s definitely a place to create core memories and get into the fall spirit. It’s a tradition that feels cozy and aesthetic, one that has autumn written all over it.
#3 – Fright Fest
In third place is Fright Fest…for the thrill and terror lovers here at EPHS. Fright Fest is the perfect fall adventure to embark on during a chilly October night. All year round, students love making their way to Six Flags, pursuing that adrenaline rush from the festive and exhilarating roller coasters. But as soon as autumn falls across the land, the amusement park becomes a spooky realm. Scare zones, clowns, haunted houses, and scare actors jumping at you all tie together and become part of the fun. Students enjoy visiting the park with a large group of friends. There’s something so oddly bonding about screaming together when a zombie jumps at you or when a clown starts to chase you. It’s frightening, it’s thrilling, and it’s a fall activity you surely won’t forget.

#4 – Pumpkin Carving
Pumpkin carving secured fourth place, proving that some of the most iconic fall activities are the ones that allow your imagination to run wild and your creativity to shine. As soon as the leaves start to fall and October begins, students get their hands on some pumpkins and get together with friends or family to carve their way into the autumn spirit. From the classic jack-o’-lantern to the craziest designs, the process of each pumpkin carve is definitely an experience you wouldn’t want to miss out on. Students say their favorite part in the pumpkin carving process is when they’re able to put a candle beneath the pumpkin and watch it radiate light! The flickering glow provides the perfect lighting for a comfy fall night in. For students here at EPHS, pumpkin carving isn’t just a basic fall activity, it’s memory making and full of fun!
#5- Starbucks Runs

Fall themed Starbucks runs earned fifth place, conveying that some of the simplest fall traditions are the best. When the August breeze fades and the air chills up, students venture over to their nearest Starbucks for their favorite seasonal beverages. The classic Pumpkin Spice Latte, Pumpkin Chai, Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew, or classic Hot Chocolate never get old! Students say that the highlight of each Starbucks run is when they get to wrap their cold hands around their warm drink, enjoying each sip they take. And, let’s face it, the Starbucks cups filled with the brown hues of the season is an accessory in itself. It embodies the autumn aesthetic. Whether it’s a weekly thing or a daily treat, Starbucks runs are pure autumn bliss for the student body here at EPHS.
