Hello, everyone! Through a Google Form, we polled the students of EPHS, asking which food chain has the best fries.
We value input because some people may view fries as a comfort food. People care about the texture, the taste, and many other things. Long story short, these elements of the fry matter to people. Let’s take a look at which fast food chain has the best fries according to our EPHS Tigers!

Results From The Survey:

1.Chick-fil-A $2.99, 280 cal

Chick-fil-A’s iconic waffle fries are one of the fast food sides that somehow always taste good. They’re thick, golden, and cut into that perfect waffle shape every time. They give you a good mix of crispy edges but soft inside. For the small size, they are roughly around $2.99 and are around 280 calories. They are definitely a good snack and their taste is  unmatched. Chick fil A seasons their fries very simply by adding just a bit of salt. There are also many sauces you can dip your fries in that can help make them taste even better. Their fries also hold up very well in their packaging so, if you are waiting to eat them while on the go, then you found the right place. In addition, for even a small size, the portions are still decently large.

2. McDonald’s $2.59, 230 cal

McDonald’s fries are pretty much the standard fry. They are skinny, golden, and nicely salted. It is $2.59 for a small fry and it holds 230 calories. Mcdonald’s fries might be one the more consistent fries out of the majority of food chains. Sometimes, they have a soggy and loose feeling and typically get colder quicker. On the other hand, if you’re able to eat them right away, they will still be crunchy most of the time. McDonald’s fries, unfortunately, do not rank as high as other fries as they get cold and soggy pretty quickly due to their packaging.

3.Wingstop  $2.76, 500 cal

Wingstop has a pretty good fry; they have a unique taste to them. They are tinted slightly brown and are well seasoned. They come with different spices, such as garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper, as well as salts and sugars. Make note, though, they also are high in fat, sodium, and carbohydrates. These fries are only $2.76 for a size small but are packed with 500 calories. These fries are slightly chunkier than McDonald’s fries but not as wide as the Chick-fil-A fries. These fries have heavier feeling to them, so don’t eat many if you haven’t started on your main dish yet.

This fry is very well seasoned all around. This fry isn’t too long, too skinny, or too wide. This fry was ranked 3rd among the fries voted on. The fry shape is just about right and good for the portion served.

Our Opinion:

Zach’s Opinion:

I feel, out of these 3 fries, Wingstop likely has the best fries. While Chick-fil-A has the biggest fry, Wingstop’s fry is just too good, and it is very well seasoned. I would say, out of these 3, my least favorite is the McDonald’s fries. They are just too plain and, although they might be the most consistent fry, they are too simple for me and the taste is slightly too plain. But, don’t get me wrong, they are a go to fry when on the move.

Eben’s Opinion:

In my opinion, out of these 3 fries, I feel like McDonald’s has the best fries. McDonald’s has been my favorite restaurant my whole life. Chick fil A’s waffle fries can sometimes be too potatoey; meanwhile, McDonald’s fries are usually skinnier and salted to perfection for me. Wingstop fries, in my opinion, are pretty good, but they are too complex for my taste buds; I like my fries simple.

Overall, these are all great options for fries. The feedback provided is based on opinions, of course. Everyone’s preferences vary from person to person based on who likes what.
