Favorite Season among the Tigers

Hello, Tigers! It’s staff reporter, Nayeli Gutierrez, bringing you my very first article of the school year. I’ve got a very informative and entertaining article for you all! I know we all have our favorite season and/or weather type. Read until the end to find out which season EPHS students like the most!

Summer

This photo resembles summer. It is showing lots of elements summer is known for, such as the bright sun and the beach.

I know a lot of people who love summer, but why? What makes summer so amazing? Summer is when it is the hottest and brightest out of the four seasons. It is the season that comes before winter and after spring. Summer is when daylight hours are the longest and the nighttime hours are the shortest. Summer comes with a lot of positive things, like going to the beach, hanging out with your friends, or even going sky diving, but many people don’t think about the negatives that summer may come with. One of the negatives is health issues. For example, we all know it can get very hot during the summer, and, since it is very hot, it may cause you to sweat a lot, which can dehydrate you, causing a variety of problems in the body. Now, back to the positive side of summer: summer can also be a good thing for your health. For example, with the sun beaming, everyone loves to be outside. The sun provides Vitamin D, which is very good for your health and body. Overall, summer is a very fun, popular, positive, season.

Spring

This photo is showing what spring is known for, such as the sun and blooming flowers.

Spring is the season that is after winter but before summer. Spring is when it starts to get a bit warmer out, getting people ready for the summer heat. During spring, the daylight hours start to increase, letting people get used to the longer days since summer, the season with the longest amount of daylight hours, is right around the corner. Spring is the season known for agriculture; it is the perfect weather to start planting flowers, vegetables, etc., and it is the second season that generates the most physical activity among people (the first being summer). Most are starting to go outside more often and more people begin to partake in outdoor activities due to the weather getting nicer. There are lots of positive things about spring but not everything is perfect. So, what’s the downside about spring? This specifically applies to people with allergies. Since spring is the season that transitions from winter to summer, there is more pollen outside. Since there is more pollen outside, people’s allergies can act up, making them sick. Putting that aside, spring is still a great season and has much to offer! Spring offers renewal, characterized by warmer weather, longer days, and the vibrant blooming of plants, it boosts well-being and fosters a sense of fresh beginnings as nature reawakens.

Fall

This photo is a good example of fall because it is showing the different colored leaves falling, which is what the season is known for.

I know a lot of people who love the fall, but why? Fall is the season that comes before winter and after summer. During the fall, it starts to get a bit more chilly outside, getting everyone ready for the winter weather. Fall is the season when the leaves on trees start to change colors and eventually fall off so that the trees can form new leaves. Fall is a very important season for animals because this is the time that they start to prepare for the winter: they have to start gathering their food and, in some cases, some animals have to migrate. During the fall, the days start to get shorter; meanwhile, the nights are getting a lot longer. Fall holidays include Halloween and Thanksgiving. Halloween is a time to get dressed up as something you love or as a character that helps express you. Thanksgiving is a time to spend with your family and be grateful for everything that you have. A lot of people like fall because it is the best time to lay in bed, watch movies with your friends, and even bake. Overall, fall is a very calming and cozy season!

Winter

This picture is showing a bunch of snow and trees without leaves, making the cold weather undeniable.

Why is winter important? Winter is important because it allows plants to go dormant. They need to rest so that they can build up energy for when they have to start growing again. Aside from the ecological benefits, it also offers a natural cycle of renewal for animals and humans. Winter is predominantly known for the holiday Christmas, a time to spend with the people you love and giving and receiving presents. Although some do not celebrate this holiday, winter, in general, is a perfect season to spend time with your friends and family. The days can go by slowly, but this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It encourages rest, reflection, and preparation for what’s to come. It is a natural period for both your mental and physical rejuvenation. In summary, winter is an important season to experience.

Now comes the part that you have all been waiting for. What season do our EPHS Tigers like the best?

And…the answer is…

FALL!

This is a photo of a graph showing the most popular season selected by the EPHS students who voted:

This is a graph showing the votes. Fall won by a landslide.

Here are some of the reasons EPHS students chose fall as their favorite season:

“Because the weather is perfect, the pumpkin spice is in the air, and it’s the start of the holiday season.”

“Fall because I can wear anything; I don’t have to wear solely pants or shorts since the temperature is always good.”

“Fall is the best season; it’s not too cold, not too hot. There are so many activities to do during this time of the year and the season of Halloween is my favorite.”

Conclusion

While there are always negatives that can be identified with all that exists, each Midwest season has much to offer. All four seasons have meaning and purpose, whether big or small.
