With spring starting to bloom here at EPHS, there are a variety of sports that have many students excited about the upcoming season. The sports that are offered this time of year are: Boys Track & Field, Girls Track & Field, Girls Soccer, Boys Volleyball, Softball, and Baseball. The sports that I am participating in and very passionate about is baseball. The program is ran by Head Coach Alexander DiGrino who has now entered his seventeenth year with the school and his sixteenth year as the head coach. He coaches the in-fielders and pitchers. As a high school student and athlete, DiGrino participated in three sports which were the sports of Football, Wrestling, and Baseball, he also played Division 1 collegiate football. DiGrino’s coaching staff is just as amped up for the 2024 season as he is, they are very passionate about their love for the game. One of the assistant coaches for the program is varsity outfield coach and EPHS alum Jim Nakatsuka. Coach Naks is in his 16th Year with the program as he started out as the freshman coach for the first ten seasons before moving on to being coach D’s assistant. Naks loves the game of baseball as much as he loves Elmwood Park. He played 4 years on varsity with the program as a student/athlete and is now coaching for the school that he is passionate about and the town that he grew up in and cares so much about.
