People had a bold prediction for this year’s Bears since they had not beaten the Packers since 2018. They predicted a win against Green Bay, and why stop there? They would also beat Indianapolis, Washington, Detroit, and Minnesota then finish with a 10-7 record and a trip to the playoffs.
As we know, this did not, in fact, happen. They ended up with a 5-12 record and became a major upset in Chicago. But at least what did happen is, at the end of the season, we ended up with a win against Green Bay: 24-22.
In March of 2023, the Bears traded D.J. Moore for a number 1 draft pick from the Carolina Panthers and in 2024 drafted Caleb Williams. The thought was that this would change their team, but the head coach did not realize Caleb Williams’s rookie season would be horrible. He threw 6 interceptions and only 20 touchdowns during the whole season. Chicago is the only NFL franchise to never have a quarterback throw for 4,000 yards or 30 touchdowns in a season, which means the city’s quarterback situation is still bad.
The Bears sadly let their coach go after the game against the Lions, when Williams got sacked 30 seconds before the game ended after a major comeback and Matt Eberflus did not call a timeout.
The Bears season started off well enough, at 4-2, but after the Commanders defeated them 15-18 with the hail Mary interception thrown from Williams, they never seemed to bounce back. The Bears finished their season at 5 wins and 12 losses.
Hopefully, the new coach, Ben Johnson, previously the Lions’s offensive coordinator, will lead us to a long road of success to the playoffs and beyond.
