Ping Pong Club has been here at EPHS for longer than people think. So in this article, I’m going to explain what Ping-Pong Club is, how it came to be, why you should join it, and more, starting with…
The History Of Ping-Pong Club
Ping-Pong Club was created in 2019 by Bozena Sierant. When the idea of bringing Ping Pong to the school came, it was originally meant to be its own sport, just like soccer or football, but not many people showed interest in it, so they ended up making it just a club, hosted by Ms. Sierant. Ms. Sierant retired in 2024 and then ownership of Ping Pong Club was granted to Ms. OMahoney. Currently, Ms. OMahoney is still in charge of the Ping Pong Club. Now, let’s go over…

What is Ping Pong Club?
The title itself is a bit self-explanatory. The club is all about the fast-paced, indoor racket sport, Ping Pong. It is played on a table with a net and is also called table tennis. Ping-Pong Club is hosted in the first floor hallway of the science wing of EPHS from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM after school every Thursday. Ms. O’Mahoney is extremely helpful and is always just right there if you ever have questions or concerns. Next, let’s talk about…

Why Should You Join Ping-Pong Club?
Ping-Pong Club can not only be very fun, especially with friends, but you can play as you want. You can choose who you want to go against, and you can be as competitive as you want. Some other important benefits of joining Ping-Pong Club are that it is a good opportunity to learn a new hobby and to meet people who share your interest in the hobby.
Unlike a sport at EPHS, there are no tryouts for Ping-Pong Club. You can simply show up, participate, and have fun after school. According to Ms. OMahoney, Ping Pong Club’s sponsor: “After stepping down from sponsoring the National Honor Society, I wanted to help a club where people could show up and participate and invite friends. I wanted to sponsor a club that was more social, I loved the service part of the National Honor Society, but I think it is important that high school students learn social skills for different types of places.”
Conclusion
Overall, I think that this club can be very fun and great to do, especially with friends. I really recommend it if you have spare time. The club is still growing, and we are looking for anyone who may be interested. Remember, we are located inside the science wing every Thursday from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
