Hello, Tigers! This is staff reporter Isabel Rodriguez. I’m sure you’ve probably heard of Siamese Cats, Maine Coons, maybe even Persian Cats, but have you ever heard of a Nebelung? If not, this article is great for you. I’m speaking from experience…I have one! This breed of cats is kind, affectionate, slivery-grey, super soft, and super underrated. The information below will help you to determine if this type of cat is for you!
Where are they from?

Nebelungs are actually pretty new. They were first seen in the 1980’s in the U.S., which isn’t that long ago in cat years. They’re also found in Russia. Their name comes from the German word “Nebel”, meaning mist or fog because their fur looks like a cloud. The two breeds that make Nebelung cats is Siegfried and Brunhilde.
Their appearance

These cats, in my eyes, are stunning. They are medium sized, lean and athletic (weighing on average between 7-15 pounds), and their fur is this beautiful blue grey color that looks royal. Although their fur is long and soft, it isn’t high maintenance. Their eyes are bright green or greenish yellow, yet their stare is creepy. Their tails are supper fluffy, elegant looking.
How do they act?

The first thing to know is that this breed of cats is not wild or in your face. If you want a crazy cat jumping on guests and acting a fool, this isn’t the cat for you. Nebelung cats are chill and shy at first, especially around new people. But once they trust you, they love you. They’re super affectionate with the people/person they love, follow you around the house, and cuddle with you all the time. They are also very smart, curious cats; for example, they can figure out how to open doors and cabinets, and they also know how to communicate what they want from you. Some can even be indoor and outdoor pets.
Are they hard to take care of?

Honestly, they are not really hard to take care of. Their fur looks super elegant and fancy, but you only need to brush them twice a week to keep their coat nice. Other than that, they need good food, toys, vet visits, and lots of love and affection. They are pretty healthy cats and can live up to 18 years.
Would I recommend one?
If you want a cat that’s chill, gorgeous, and loves you deeply, then the Nebelung might be a perfect match for you. They are amazing for quiet homes, older kids, or anyone who just wants an introverted pet. They just pick you and then you have their loyalty forever.
At the start of this article, I stated that I have one, and she’s the best cat ever; she is so loyal and is super affectionate and really smart and, honestly, can do anything. She’s very adventurous and loves to go out and explore, but she always comes back home. I really do recommend this cat breed.
Conclusion
Nebelungs deserve more attention and more popularity, and this is why I decided to write this article. Finding a cat breed can be really hard. There are a lot of cat breeds that people don’t know about, and it is those breeds that might end up fitting your interest best. Nebelungs are one of these breeds for me.
