Elmwood Park, a bustling town right off of Chicago, is growing by the months. It may be a small town with a population of around 23,000 people, but it has a welcoming charm that makes anyone feel like they’re right at home. From its new restaurants to its sense of community, Elmwood Park stands out as a place that balances comfort and accessibility.

One of the best things about Elmwood Park is its continuous growth. Over the last few years, there has been new lifebrought into the town. With roads being repaved and park renovations, the town has seen many improvements that the people have been enjoying. The Circle, seen as the downtown of Elmwood Park, has also welcomed a new restaurant, Pompei. Opening at the end of the summer, it has brought more excitement to the already busy Circle. Restaurant Row on North Avenue is also a highlight of Elmwood Park. Featuring many different restaurants from Asian to Italian, it is the perfect place to meet up with friends for dinner or for a quick bite. There are places, like Johnnie’s, that have been around forever but also new restaurants, like Ethos Taverna, that are being built as we speak! The bustling strip brings excitement while also keeping true to the charm that Elmwood Park has to offer.
Another reason that Elmwood Park is a great place to live is because of its strong public school system. Rated as “Above Average” by Niche, the school district provides a solid education for all students, from Pre-K to seniors in high school. Teachers are dedicated to helping students grow and make the school environment fun and challenging. District 401 also offers a variety of activities and clubs that students can join to help build connections with each other. Elmwood Park High School is the center of school spirit for the town, with sporting events always packed with friends and families cheering on the Tigers, and the auditorium always full when the EPHS Theater puts on a new production. Parents can appreciate that their children are getting a full, well-rounded education, whether they are at John Mills, Elmwood Elementary, Elm Middle School, or EPHS.

Elmwood Park’s location is also a great advantage. Being only 30 minutes away from downtown Chicago, it makes working or partaking in activities in the city a breeze. Elmwood Park is also home to a Metra Stop, where residents can take the train right into Union Station downtown. Major roads, like Cumberland and 1st Avenue, are nearby highways that connect us with not only the city but many other towns around EP. Commutes and travel are made simple throughout EP. There are many options for people to choose from, providing easy access to work, school, entertainment, and all other attractions downtown Chicago and neighboring towns have to offer.
Safety and community are also important to many families, and these are among the many appealing parts of Elmwood Park. The town is known for being a friendly place where neighbors know they can rely on each other. The Elmwood Park Police Department is always seen on patrol, keeping the streets safe and making residents feel secure. Many of the townspeople know they are safe on walks, at parks with their children, or at any town-organized events.
Beyond safety, Elmwood Park feels like a big family. People often greet each other on the streets and come together to support local businesses. The Taste of Elmwood Park is a great way to see the big family of EP unite. People gather together to enjoy good food from all over the town, listen to live music, and have fun with their friends. Events like these help EP residents create memories and give them something to look forward to every year. Elmwood Park’s friendly atmosphere makes it easy to connect with others and makes even the newest residents feel welcome.

In many ways, Elmwood Park captures everything people look for in a place to live: community, safety, and growth. It’s a place that values improvement but also stays true to its homey feel. Its mix of developments, education, fun, and security makes it more than just another suburb of Chicago. It makes it home.
