Stanley’s VS Owala’s

There has been an ongoing debate about which trendy water bottle is better – Stanley or Owala. Personally, I have both water bottles and want to know the opinions of EPHS students, so I sent out a survey to see which people prefer!

What are Stanley’s?

I chose this image because it shows a nice variety of Stanley’s like the color, the size, and the style. The variety of options makes sure every person finds something they like!

Stanley’s are a water bottle tumbler that became trendy around 2022. They were created by a man named William Stanley in 1920. They come in different sizes and are used for different purposes. You have the tumbler, which comes in 14 oz, 20 oz, 30 oz, 40 oz, and 64 oz. These tumblers are the ones that are most trending and the water bottles you see around school the most. They go as little as $20 and as high as $60. They are also known for their variety of vibrant colors. They come in solid colors and mix matched colors. They are made out of stainless steel and vacuum, which causes the liquid insider to keep its original temperature for 48 hours. Even ice won’t melt for up to two days.

What makes Stanley’s trendy?

We see Stanley’s everywhere – all over social media and in places like school and work. But do you ever wonder why they are so popular? A lot of people tend to like the durability of Stanley’s; they are made of long lasting materials. The functionality of Stanley’s also plays a role in why they are so popular. People like spill proof lids and easy-carry handles. Stanley’s also have aesthetic appeal with their variety of colors and styles. They blend into the modern look, making them social media worthy. Then we have influencer endorsements; social media influencers showcase Stanley’s in a variety of settings, and this contributes to their trendiness.

What are Owala’s?

Owala’s are a water bottle we started to see get trendy around 2020. They were made by a man name Steve Soresen and were launched in 2020. They are known for their spill proof lids and their built in straws. Owala’s don’t have your typical modern look, but they do have these fun mix matched colors which people tend to gravitate towards. The free-sip Owalas are the ones you see that are most trendy. The available sizes are the 24 oz, 32 oz, 40 oz, or 50 oz; prices start at $27 and go up to $37. They are made of stainless steel and keep ice for 24 hours. They are eco-friendly as they reduce single use plastic waste.

What makes Owala’s trendy?

We see Owala’s all over social media, like TikTok and Instagram, at school, and even in the workplace. So why are they so trendy? Their innovative design, their unique feature of a two in one lid, and the easy handle are all popular aspects of this bottle. There are a wide range of visually appealing colors and styles available; Owala definitely caters to diverse tastes and preferences. Their social media presence, often through partnerships, is no secret and this has contributed to their trendiness.

Stanley and Owala are just two water bottles that are different brands. They have a lot of similarities and that’s why we see so much competition between the two. There isn’t one better than the other based on the facts, but of course we still have opinions and preferences.

This survey was sent out via Google Forms to EPHS students. 66 responses were collected.

Do you have either one or both of the brands?

The results show that EPHS students prefer Owala’s over Stanley’s.
