Hey, Tigers! We are sophomores Veronica Konarkowski and Isabel Rodriguez. We chose to write about the Victoria’s Secret Angels. The “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” is an annual event renowned for its elaborate and million-dollar fashion statements featuring top models known as “Victoria’s Secret Angels”. The show combines fashion, entertainment, and music, making it a highly anticipated spectacle. Angels like Adriana Lima and Gigi Hadid became iconic figures in the fashion industry, known for their beauty, poise, and elaborate wings on the runway. The event often includes performances by famous musicians such as Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, etc., adding its allure and global appeal.

Below are the Top 10 “Victoria Secret Angels” we chose based on their outstanding reputations in the fashion industry.

Adriana Lima

Adriana Lima is a Brazilian supermodel and actress, best known for her work as a “Victoria’s Secret Angel” and her appearances in high-profile fashion campaigns. Lima is one of the most successful models of all time. She was born on June 12, 1981, in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. Lima is 5’10, which is a standard height for a supermodel. She has also appeared in films and television shows, making her one of the most recognized faces in the fashion industry. Lima performed in the 1999, 2000, 2008, 2010, 2014, 2017, 2018, and the 2024 “Victoria Secret Fashion Shows”. She is now 43 years old and has 3 children. Despite her age, she still models and has an exquisite physique. Lima returned to the “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” in 2024 to celebrate the brand’s new approach to inclusivity and support for women at different stages in their lives.

Gigi Hadid

Gigi Hadid is an American fashion model and social media and television personality. Hadid began her modeling career in high school and is now one of the world’s most notable and highest-paid models. Hadid has walked the runways of New York, Paris, and London Fashion Weeks. Hadid is 5 ’11, which is the standard height for a female model. She was not a “Victoria’s Secret Angel”, but she has walked the 2016, 2018, and 2024 “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows”. Hadid is now 29 years old and her modeling career is still strong. Her recent projects include returning to the “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” and walking in the Versace Fashion Show in 2021.

Candice Swanepoel

Candice Swanepoel is a South African Model known for her work with Victoria’s Secret. Swanepoel is one of the most known “Victoria’s Secret Angels”. She wore one of the most expensive outfits Victoria’s Secret has ever produced. In the 2013 fashion show, she wore a $10 million outfit. Swanepoel has walked several shows including the 2013, 2017, and 2024 “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows”. She has also walked several other major fashion shows in different countries and big cities. Swanepoel is 5’10, which is a standard height for a female model. Now, she is 36 years old and is still very strong in her modeling career. Despite her age, she still looks phenomenal and has an exquisite physique.

Romee Strijd

Romee Strijd is a Dutch model. She was a formal “Victoria’s Secret Angel” and appeared in the 2014-2018 “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows”. She has worked for several high-end brands and appeared in magazines such as Vogue. Strijd is a 5’11 model. Now Strijd is 29 years old with 2 children. She still models and has a very slim figure with an angelic presence to her. Strijd is still one of the most successful models.

Taylor Hill

Taylor Hill is an American model. She is famous for her work as a model and actress, along with her social media content. Hill is one of the most successful models in her generation with her 5’10 figure. She was discovered at the age of 14 by a photographer in Colorado. Then, in 2015, she became a “Victoria’s Secret Angel”. From 2014-2018, Hill walked in the brand’s annual fashion show. She has also modeled for top brands such as Micheal Kors, Ralph Lauren, and Miu Miu. Hill is now an entrepreneur and is working on her pet store business.

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum is a German-American supermodel. Klum is known for her modeling, television, and business work. Klum has a big history with Victoria’s Secret and has been modeling for Victoria’s Secret from 1998 to 2010. She started her modeling career when she was 18 and entered Model 92, a German Beauty Contest, where she won the top prize for modeling. Klum is 5’9 and she no longer models but still has a beautiful figure and is a hostess of a lot of television shows, thereby still achieving milestones.

Gisele Bündchen

Gisele Bündchen is a Brazilian fashion model. Since 2001 she has been the world’s highest-paid model with a net of worth over $400 million. Bündchen has walked several “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows”, including the 1999-2006 shows. She made history when she modeled an outfit valued at $15 million. Bündchen retired from walking in runway shows. She is now 49 years old and was married to NFL player Tom Brady and they have 2 children. She is still one of the most honored and valued models in the world.

Allesandra Ambrosio

Alessandra Ambrosio is a Brazilian model who has been taking modeling classes since she was 12. She started her career in the late 90’s and is mainly known for her work with Victoria’s Secret. She was chosen as the first spokesmodel for “PINK” and was a “Victoria’s Secret Angel” from 2004-2017. Ambrosio is 5 ’10 and keeps her beautiful figure by regular exercise. We don’t hear much about Ambrosio anymore, but she did announce her retirement in 2017. She is a mother of two and ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks is an American model. She started modeling at the age of 15 and was rejected by 4 modeling agencies before signing with an agency called L.A. Models. Banks was one of only a few Black models to achieve supermodel status. She was a “Victoria’s Secret Angel” from 1997-2005. Banks was one of the world’s top-earning models. Banks was the first Black American woman to be featured on the covers of magazines such as Sports Illustrated, on which she appeared three times. Later, she gained even more fame as the creator of a modeling reality TV show, “America’s Next Top Model”. She is truly an icon and worked hard becoming one of the first African-American women to achieve supermodel status. Because of this, Banks has influenced and inspired many people of color.

Doutzen Kroes

Doutzen Kroes is a Dutch fashion model. She began her modeling career in 2003 and got casted very quickly by the brand Victoria’s Secret. Kroes was a “Victoria’s Secret Angel” and has walked in several shows such as the 2005, 2008-2014, and the 2024 “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Shows”. She is now 39 years old with 2 children. In 2024, Kroes returned to the runway after 10 years. She came back stronger than ever and promotes that all women are beautiful at different stages in their lives.

In conclusion, the Victoria’s Secret supermodels and the “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show” have left indelible marks on the fashion industry. These supermodels have become icons of beauty, confidence, and style, inspiring countless individuals in the world. The fashion show has been a spectacular success with its creativity showcasing the artistry of fashion design. Hi! My name is Veronica Konarkowski. I’m a sophomore at Elmwood Park High School, and I am a staff reporter for The Tiger. I play soccer at EPHS. I also love tumbling and gymnastics. My interests are my friends, sports, and fashion. For my other extracurricular activities I am involved in the EPHS Class of ‘27 Council and I am in Snowball. After high school, I don’t have any specific plans yet, but I do know that I want to be successful.
