Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and what’s Thanksgiving without amazing food? While the turkey might be the star of the show, the side dishes are just as, if not more, important. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for the blessings of the year, and one way we celebrate is by enjoying a delicious meal with family and friends.
To find out what EPHS students like best, a survey was sent out asking them to vote for their favorite Thanksgiving side dishes. After reviewing the results, I’ve created a list of the top 10 favorites!
1. Macaroni and Cheese
Macaroni and cheese is a creamy, cheesy, and savory side dish that’s everyone’s favorite. It’s rich, comforting, and pairs perfectly with almost anything on the Thanksgiving table.
2. Mashed Potatoes
Mashed potatoes are a classic Thanksgiving dish. They can be smooth or chunky, and their buttery, salty flavor is even better when topped with gravy.
3. Rolls
Warm, buttery rolls are a must-have at Thanksgiving. They are soft, warm, buttery, sweet, and savory.
4. Baked Potatoes
Baked potatoes are another favorite. They’re warm, fluffy, and salty, with endless topping options like cheese, sour cream, and even bacon.
5. Stuffing
Stuffing is a Thanksgiving classic. It’s buttery, warm, and packed with flavor.
6. Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes are naturally sweet and buttery. Topping them with marshmallows makes them as good as dessert!
7. Corn bread
Cornbread is a slightly sweet, buttery, and savory dish with a hint of corn flavor. It’s a great addition to any Thanksgiving meal.
8. Ham
Although turkey is the main dish, ham is a popular side for many families. It’s mildly sweet, salty, and savory.
9. Cranberry Sauce
Cranberry sauce brings a sweet but tart flavor to the meal. It’s a perfect pairing for turkey and stuffing.
10. Biscuits
Biscuits are buttery, salty, and savory. They’re delicious on their own but even better with gravy.
