About Eagle Scout and My Goal
My name is Zachery Molina, and I am a scout for Troop 4690 that is located at Celestine Church. I am trying to achieve the highest rank that you can achieve inside of scouting – Eagle Scout. An Eagle Scout has achieved everything that is taught through scouting and has learned everything he could to achieve the honor of becoming a better person. When you become an Eagle Scout, you have so many opportunities open up to you, such as a higher acceptance rate for colleges along with jobs due to a distinguished resume. In addition, if you want to join the military, you complete the training and are automatically two ranks ahead of everyone else who isn’t an Eagle Scout.
In order to finalize the process of becoming an Eagle Scout, you must complete the Eagle Scout Project. I am currently working on mine, which focuses on the Special Education students at Elmwood Elementary School and John Mills Elementary School.
The Project Details
The Elmwood Elementary School and John Mills Elementary School have groups of students who are a part of core classes because of diagnosed learning disabilities. I was once a part of this type of group due to my ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). I needed to take breaks to cool down because even I had a hard time sitting down. I’d jump up and down or fidget vividly.
My plan is to create a fundraiser to help pay for my project. I plan on laying out a bunch of stickers that are used to 1) take children’s minds off anything troubling, 2) focus on one thing at a time, and 3) initiate breaks. Some of the stickers are of exercises, like jumping or stretching, and even breathing exercises. My goal is to make it easier for kids to take breaks when needed and to help provide a new learning experience for everyone who chooses to try and use the stickers.
What I Believe about the Project
I believe that this project will ultimately help kids who have learning disabilities and get distracted easily. I also think this project will help children who need to take their minds off things. I believe that by doing this project it will help teachers, students, and parents be able to have an easier time controlling their kids so they are not so rowdy and irritated but rather calm and ready to learn.
I chose to do this project not only due to my personal experiences but also because I have a niece who is in a core class due to her severe autism. A teacher used to help me, so in doing this I hope it can help my niece and others have an easier time, too.
