As the Holidays are just around the corner, candles are lit, trees are up, and Christmas lights are on. Even sweet treats are decorated! Here are some of the best cookie decoration ideas!
Snowflake Cookies:
First on the list is a snowflake! What often happens during Christmas? Snow! So it only makes sense to make a snowflake cookie! Right? The most common icing to make this beautiful cookie is blue and white royal icing. To make it even more beautiful, dust it with edible glitter. But make sure the cookie is snowflake shaped! (It can just be a circle cookie if you’d like, that’s fine, too!) Are you wondering how to make a cookie into the shape of a snowflake? Simple! All you need is a snowflake cookie cutter! It may take a few tries but with the right tools and patience, it will turn out great.
Gingerbread Men:
Next up is the Gingerbread Man. Once upon a time, there was a young girl that was making cookies for her Intro to Journalism class. She put a gingerbread cookie in the oven and waited. When it was finally ready, she opened the oven and the gingerbread came out saying, “Don’t eat me!” Another common cookie idea is to make gingerbread in the shape of a man, and you can decorate each with cute, little outfits. The flavors that come with it are ginger and cinnamon. When you take it out of the oven, make sure you let it cool down so the cookie can firm up. Just be ready just in case the Gingerbread Man runs away from you!
Gingerbread Houses:
Third is the Gingerbread House! Time to get out your creativity and tools because that Gingerbread Man who ran away needs a house! The best day to make a Gingerbread House is December 12th since that day is National Gingerbread House Day. Some things to put on your Gingerbread House are royal icing, gum drops, jelly beans, candy canes, and other fun stuff! You can make your own Gingerbread House at home, or you can buy a kit from a store like Target to get started even more easily and quickly.
Ornament Cookies:
Second to last is the ornament cookie! What do you have hanging on your Christmas tree? You might have some embarrassing pictures of you and your siblings, maybe some family pictures, or even some candy canes! But one of the most common things to hang from your Christmas tree is ornaments. So of course we have to make some cookies! You can decorate it however you want and whatever color you want. I think it’s a pretty simple cookie to do since any random pattern will be okay.
Ugly Sweater Cookies:
Lastly is the ugly sweater cookie! It’s time to open up your closest and take out those ugly Christmas sweaters! But when you put these kinds of designs on a cookie, the mini edible sweater actually looks so cute! If you don’t have patience, then this cookie might not be for you. It may take awhile to get the hang of it, but in the end you’ll make the best ugly sweater cookies ever!
