Valentine’s Day is a special day for many people. Valentine’s Day doesn’t only have to be for couples; you can also throw a Galentine’s Day party and hang out with your favorite people, family or friends. Every year I get flowers for my mom and sister just to show I love and care about them; something like this is effortless, cheap, and thoughtful. There are also other simple ways to show appreciation for those you love, such as watching movies together, wearing matching outfits, sharing snacks, catching up, or baking together while enjoying each other’s company. Here are 5 recommendations of ways you can celebrate from the comfort of your home.
1. Decorate your home

If you enjoy creating a festive atmosphere and would like to show your appreciation for people through decorating, then this is definitely something you should do, even if it’s just with subtle touches. Decorating your home for a Valentine’s Day could make your personal space look so good and could be fun to do. You can add touches of pink, red, or beige. They all compliment each other and walking into a room with the holiday colors can really put you in a festive mood!
2. Make snacks

On Valentine’s Day, most people just buy chocolates and flowers. Instead of buying chocolates, trying gifting someone something yummy but different. Making something unique at home shows that you care because you took time out of your day to make someone else something special. Some ideas are chocolate chip cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, etc., which are just some of the easy treats you can make for yourself, family, or friends. I personally would make chocolate covered strawberries because I think they are delicious and super easy to make! All you need are three ingredients: chocolate chips, some kind of oil to help the chocolate harden, and obviously strawberries.
3. Have a girls night in

Matching pajamas with your best friends plus a girls’ night sounds fun to me! A girls’ night in doesn’t have to be boring. There are so many things to do. For starters, catching up with each other, especially if you haven’t seen each other in a while, is always so nice. Sharing snacks and watching favorite TV shows together is really fun and relaxing. I suggest a game night or karaoke, though. You could never go wrong with karaoke! Singing songs brings so much joy to many. Lots of people love to sing and everyone will have a great time!
4. Make a Valentine’s Basket

I’ve always thought making holiday baskets was fun to do, especially because I could gift them to someone close to me. These baskets started trending last winter and are still very popular now. I know tons of people who want a basket for any holiday; lots of people have been asking their parents or partner for a basket because they really want one. So make one for literally anyone, family, friends, or your significant other! Exchanging baskets is even more fun. The picture above is definitely something you can recreate, or just search “Valentine’s Day baskets” on Google and tons of ideas will pop up. If this is something you’re interested in, I would definitely suggest it since it’s fun, affordable, simple, and cute, plus easy to personalize!
5. Watch Your Favorite Movies

Watch a romantic movie for Valentine’s Day; after all, Valentine’s is all about the celebration of love! Watching movies and eating snacks can be a great way to celebrate the day. There are so many amazing movies you can watch with your partner, friends, or family that you might be able to relate to. The top romance movies right now are Fly Me to the Moon, La La Land, and How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days. All of these movies have great ratings and multiple people have talked about how much they love them. Netflix also has a great collection of Valentine’s Day movies for you to watch on this special occasion!
In conclusion, staying home on Valentine’s Day can be just as enjoyable as going out. All you need to do is make sure you have fun and do stuff that you enjoy with your family, friends, or partners, whether it’s watching your favorite movies, eating snacks, or simply spending quality time together. Celebrate this fun holiday from the comfort of your home because sometimes the best moments come from the simplicity of staying in.
