11-9. That was the 2023-2024 EPHS boys varsity soccer record, featuring wins against big schools, such as Riverside-Brookfield, ITW David Speer Academy, and Westmont. It was one of the best seasons for the boys varsity team. This incredible season helped the team move into the Upstate Eight Conference, where they will compete this year. They will be facing Fenton, West Chicago, Glenbard South, Glenbard East, Riverside-Brookfield, and Ridgewood. These games will be exciting and competitive for the Elmwood Park team. The boys are seeking to make history by being the first boys’ team to win a conference title for the EPHS boys’ soccer program.

‘’I think we are doing pretty good and will continue to do big things.”

“I think it’s been pretty good. We lost our last two games, but we are going to turn things around today against RB.”

“I feel like we have a great chance of winning the conference this year.”

What are your goals for the upcoming season?
“My goal is to contribute to the team’s success. I want to have individual success as well, improving as a player and a person. Also, I hope to score at least a few goals and get some assists.’’
What games are you most looking forward to this season?
“I am looking forward to the game against Ridgewood, but I’m most looking forward to the regional games.”
Are there any particular teams you see as major competitors?
“A few competitive teams are Ridgewood, RB, Speer, and West Chicago.”
Current Season
So far this season, the EPHS varsity boys soccer team has a record of 3-3. The players feel confident that this team can achieve a lot of success this year, but will they accomplish big things? The latest game was against their rival Ridgewood. It was an incredibly intense match that ended in a 1-1 draw after regular time, with both teams showing commitment and passion to win. As the game went to penalties, the pressure mounted for both sides. Each player stepped up to the spot, knowing that their kick could determine the outcome of the game. In the end, the penalty shootout was a nail-biting finish, but EPHS emerged victorious. This was the EPHS boys varsity soccer team’s first win against Ridgewood in five years. The excitement and tension of the penalty shootout created an unforgettable conclusion to a hard-fought game. This significant win moved them to third place in the Upstate Eight Conference.
