In this review, I will be giving my personal opinion on A Minecraft Movie. This article will also include what has occurred because of the movie’s release. I will be ranking the movie in many different categories.
Characters & Cast
First, the characters of the movie are Garrett (Jason Momoa), Natalie (Emma Myers), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Dawn (Danielle Brooks), and Steve (Jack Black). This was definitely an interesting cast of characters, considering the different types of movies and shows some of these actors have appeared in. Next, let’s talk about…
Practical Effects & CGI
Effects that are used in the movie of course are for explosions, creatures, and other elements, but you would be surprised with how much CGI is in the movie. After a behind the scenes look, we see that all props, all of the area around them, is actually real. They made the hills, the trees, and everything else so that the actors could get a realistic look at how the world looks, and I think they did a really good thing by doing this. Of course, not everything was real, so CGI was required for this movie, but it made not only the areas, but also the acting overall a lot better, and it felt extremely immersive. Next, let’s talk about…

Budget & Why It Took So Long
Co-produced by Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment, the movie had a production budget of $150 million, and as of the making of this article, it has made a total of $720 million worldwide. Now, there are also many reasons why the Minecraft movie’s initial release date was delayed, but one of the main reasons is the script. There were countless disagreements between the filmmakers and the Minecraft developers about how the plot of the movie was going to unfold. The developers of Minecraft didn’t want the movie to be a cash grab. They wanted it to have a good story, fit the actual game, and feel like it had some sort of liveliness to it. Next, let’s talk about…
My Overall Review
I think A Minecraft Movie, overall, was a lot better than my friends and I expected it to be. I went into the theater with low expectations, but I was surprised to see that the movie looked clean, the acting was good, and the effects were pretty good too. Overall, I would most definitely recommend this movie to anyone I know, and I give it a 10/10. But unfortunately, every movie has its flaws, and for the Minecraft movie, it wasn’t the movie itself. It was the people watching the film. Let’s now talk about…

The Aftermath of A Minecraft Movie
A Minecraft Movie is a good movie, and to some people, it was too good. There have been so many reports of people absolutely trashing theaters with popcorn, soda, and even vomit. All of this chaos occurs when, around halfway through the movie, Jack Black says the iconic “Chicken Jockey!” line while he and Garrett are trapped in a boxing match, where Garrett is forced to fight a chicken jockey.

This situation got so bad that theaters were forced to kick out entire theaters full of people, have police called, and even make announcements before the movie, and even right before the line plays, warning that if anything happens, everyone will be kicked out. Numerous staff members have received all sorts of abuse, including a special case where one staff member was body-slammed on her first day, fireworks were lit in the theater, and more. As of now, the chaos that occurred seems to have died down a bit, so going to see the movie should be much safer. I saw it on the day of release, so thankfully I did not experience this.
Conclusion
If you do plan on seeing this movie in theaters, I would definitely be cautious. This situation is not limited to a certain place; it has happened in theaters all over the US. Despite the aftermath, this movie, for me personally, has been very worth it, and I think it is for a lot of other people as well.
