Intro
Clash Royale is a game that has 121 cards used to build a battle deck and includes synergies of cards to create an 8-card deck to defeat your opponent. This game involves strategy and many counters to your opponent’s deck. In Clash Royale, you battle against another player in a small arena with two towers and a king tower each. Your deck can contain spells, towers, and troops. Every card has an elixir cost, which represents how much ‘“game currency”’ you need to deploy that card. 1 elixir generates every 2.8 seconds and every 1.4 seconds during double elixir time. The goal is to destroy your enemy’s tower while defending your own as well. If you destroy your opponent’s king tower, you automatically win the game. Clash Royale is a game mixed with cards, tower defense, and strategy in battle.
What are the Skeleton Cards?
There are a total of 13 different types of skeleton cards, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Some cost more than others, some being win conditions, and some being buildings. Each skeleton card can be used in any deck, depending on its synergy with that specific deck. Our goal is to figure out which skeleton card is the best by running surveys and interviewing some of the top players in Elmwood Park High School. From a poll sent out by me and my partner, with 55 responses, Skeletons got voted as the best skeleton card with a 4.31 average rating out of 5 stars. Guards tied with Balloon for second place with a 3.84 rating. Finally, Wall Breakers came in third with a 3.75 rating. The skeleton is a fan favorite among students in EPHS. One of EPHS’s students with a high trophy count, Mel Anthony Rubio, has a personal opinion on which his favorite skeleton card is. Mel has earned 15,000 trophies before and has had six years of experience with the game. He states, “I picked Skeletons in Clash Royale because it is a versatile card on defense for just 1 elixir. Skeletons are also an amazing cycle card to help distract on defense and provide extra support for tank killers. On top of these feats, its evolution is just as good. The ability to clone itself is enough to take an entire tower with the help of a spirit.”
More facts about these cards:
One of the biggest reasons the Skeletons are considered the best skeleton card is for their elite kiting or distraction. They are awesome for pulling cards like Pekka, Bandit, Knight, and many more. If left alone on a tower with a tank supporting it, it can deal enormous amounts of damage to towers and troops. It’s also a great card to lower the average elixir cost of many decks.
Another advantage of Skeletons is its low elixir cost of 1, which makes it a very efficient card in the game. Players can cycle it quickly, meaning they can place it multiple times in one match to either cycle to other cards or have a low elixir cost to react to their enemies’ push. It’s low cost also makes it easy to fit into any type of deck, whether it’s cycle decks, control decks, or heavy beat down decks.
Skeletons also provide great support against decks that support main buildings, like Mortar and X-Box. It allows you to keep them distracted for a few seconds until you can build up more elixir to counter them.

Evolution
The Skeletons also have an evolution variant, making them even stronger. The evolution still spawns in 3 of them, but now, they are able to multiply and divide in 2 with each hit one of the skeletons gets. This is very useful in destroying massive pushes from your opponent with little to no elixir. The evolution variant has a 2 card cycle, meaning you would have to place it two times before you can place it the third time evolved. The only downside of the evolution is that it still has the same health as the normal skeleton.

Conclusion:
Overall, the Skeletons combination of damage, speed, efficiency, and it’s evolution explains the popularity among the many players of Clash Royale throughout the years. Those at Elmwood Park High School ranked it as the best skeleton card. It is a card that can be used in nearly any deck and consistently provides value throughout a match.
