As someone who found an interest in makeup as a freshman in high school but had no prior knowledge of it, I had to experiment with many different products and brands. Over time, I figured out that specific brands work with my skin type better than others. My skin is what people call “combination skin” which means my face is both dry and oily, apart from that I also have very sensitive skin which makes it harder to find products that don’t irritate my skin. At first, I began to look at TikTok and try what other people were using but makeup is all about what works for your skin, it was always a hit or a miss. Looking for a good base makeup routine was a struggle for my sister and I but we finally figured one out and I hope it helps someone to learn from my mistakes. Lastly, though I love to embrace my natural skin, I also love to do a full face of makeup so I am here to share the current products in my routine that give me the best results.

My Current Products     

VaniCream Moisturizer (Walgreens)-  I use this product 10 minutes before I start my makeup. It is priced at $16.99 and it is worth every cent. This product is great for prepping your skin before your makeup or even before bed. It works very well with dry and sensitive skin.

Urban Decay ‘All Nighter Primer’ (Ulta)- This primer is $39.00 and I definitely recommend it for anyone who tends to get oily throughout the day. It keeps your makeup locked in and it is easy to work over.

Elf Cosmetics ‘Brow Lift’ (E.L.F. website/Target)- This product is good for its price at $6.00. It will hold your brows down all day and it is fairly simple to use. It dries clear but if you use too much then it will dry white throughout the day.

One Size ‘Turn Up the Base Blurring Foundation’ (Sephora/One Size website)- This foundation is $35.00 and it is currently my favorite. It feels light and creamy on the skin but has full coverage. It works well on my skin and does not irritate my skin. The shade range is also very diverse.

Elf ‘Halo Glow Contour Wand’ (E.L.F. website/Target)-  This liquid contour is $6.50 which is a good price. It is very pigmented but feels very light on the skin. It is super easy to blend out and the cushion-top application makes it super easy to apply.

L.A Girl ‘Soft Matte Cream Blush’ (Ulta)- This blush is at a low price of $3.39 but it works very well. It is very pigmented and easy to blend out.

Elf ‘Hydrating Camo Concealer’ (E.L.F. website/Target)- My all time favorite concealer priced at $7.00. It has good coverage but feels very light on the skin. They have many shades and it works well for dry and oily skin so it works for everyone. It is also super easy to blend out.

Maybelline ‘Fit Me Pressed Powder’ (Maybelline website/Target)- This pressed powder is $6.00 and works like a charm. The packaging is convenient because it is small and has a little mirror. I carry it with me anywhere I go. It makes your makeup look so smooth and it just sets it all in.

Bissu ‘Contour Palette’ (Amazon)- This contour palette is $18.00 and it has a nice shade range. The colors in the palette are pigmented and easy to blend out.

Maybelline ‘Fit Me Blush’ (Maybelline website/Target)- This blush is $7.49, but it is not super pigmented. However, it is easy to build it up to your preferred amount.

One Size ‘Ultimate Blurring Loose Setting Powder’ (Sephora/One Size website)-  This setting powder costs $34.00. I use this to “bake” my makeup and it is perfect. It really lightens up your makeup and gives the perfect blur effect.

Fenty Beauty ‘Diamond Bomb Highlighter’ (Fenty Beauty website/Ulta)- This product is $42.00 but is my personal favorite. This highlighter is very sparkly and does not leave a white cast behind.

Rihanna herself said “You can never have enough diamonds! This is the closest thing to bathing in it. The sparkle in this is just insane!” (Rihanna, 2018).

Elf ‘Lash ‘N Roll Mascara’ (E.L.F. website/Target)- This mascara is only $6.00. Your lashes will look good all day without flaking. It adds a lot of volume to your lashes.

L’Oreal ‘Telescopic Mascara’ (L’Oreal website/Target)- This mascara is $11.99 but genuinely worth it. I use this one before my other mascara and it adds the perfect length to your lashes.

Urban Decay ‘All Nighter Waterproof Setting Spray’ (Sephora/Ulta)- This setting spray costs $37.00. Though it is on the pricey side, I literally live by this setting spray. Your makeup will last all day without smudging, no matter where you are. It is also waterproof which makes it perfect for this upcoming spring and summer.

M.A.C Lip Pencil(Ulta/Sephora)- This lip liner is $24.00 but is one of my favorites. It has a very smooth and pigmented formula that looks amazing on your lips. I personally love to line my lips with it then add Aquaphor on top as a gloss.
