Coach Terry:
This is Coach Terry’s 2nd year with the Tigers, and he’s ready for many more. Coach loves to bring the hype every day. Coach is a Illinois man, himself playing his high school days at Barrington High School. After high school, he went on to play to play at the University of South Dakota.
In his 3rd year at the school, he was 1 of 10 players to start all 11 games. He earned honorable mention; All-MVFC honoree, catching 53 passes for 567 yards; and had team-leading three touchdowns. He was ranked 72nd nationally and fourth in the MVFC in catches per game; ranked sixth in the conference in receiving yards per game; returned nine kickoffs for an average of 13 yards; and had four catches for 109 yards and two touchdowns in the season opener against Montana (9/1), where he caught an 80-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the second half (the longest play from scrimmage all season). He had seven catches for 89 yards and a score against Illinois State (9/29).
In his last season with the Coyotes, Terry played in all 12 games and earned 11 starts at wide receiver. He led the team and ranked fourth in the MVFC with 54 catches. He was second on the team and 11th in the conference with 502 yards receiving and three touchdown catches. He also ran the ball nine times for 61 yards for an average of 6.8 yards per carry and caught a touchdown pass on the final play of regulation to force overtime against UNI, a game the Coyotes went on to win (10/19). He had a 2-yard touchdown reception the following week at Illinois State (10/26) and nine catches for 115 yards and a touchdown against South Dakota State (11/16). His longest catch was a 63-yarder at Northern Arizona (9/21), and he had a 20-yard kickoff return at Western Illinois (9/28).
Team Thoughts:
The Tigers are ready to hit the ground running. As a team composed of mostly underclassmen this year, the Tigers plan only on moving up when it comes to skills and records. All players are locked in and ready to go every Friday night. The team stays joyful during practices all week leading up to game days. We all keep our heads up and try our hardest. If you ask anyone on this football team they will say , “Go Tigers! Beat ——!”
