Hello, Tigers. This is Daniel Dohoney coming to you ONE LAST time for the school year.
Class of 2026, we get to look forward to a bunch next school year, our year at Elmwood Park High School. Starting all the way back in 2014, over 11 years later, we are now seniors and have just one year left. Let’s take a look at what we have coming up in the not so distant future.
Senior Sunrise
Senior Sunrise is a significant moment of senior year. Right before school starts, we will all meet up at a beach or significant place and watch the sunrise. Most people will bring breakfast foods and drinks and some even go swimming. It is a tradition done at almost every school in America. I’m sure we will do it the best, though.

Last First Day
The last first day of high school will be the last time we start a new school year at Elmwood Park High School together after 3 consecutive years of doing so. This is not considered as big of a deal as some of the the other events on this list, but it is still a huge moment for most people. When we step in those doors that day we will be the oldest class in Distract 401 for a full year. It is truly the beginning of the end.

Spirit Week
Spirit Week is a great way to get into school spirit and have fun with friends. We will have 3 Spirit Weeks and although we don’t know what the themes will be yet, I’m sure they will be great! EVERYONE should get into it for our last ride, even if you haven’t participated in the past.

Homecoming
Homecoming is a very exciting time. Everything that goes into it, the pep rally, the final game, the decorations, etc. make it a major contributor to core high school memories, so definitely attend, especially since it will be your last at EPHS. The dance is usually held in the gymnasium from 7 to 10 and the tickets are always so cheap!

Pep Rallies
There are so many fun school events and traditions to get into, like the games and chants. Seeing as though we already win most of the events, it’ll be nice to do it one last time for our senior year. There are so many memorable moments for athletes, but one of the best is Senior Night, recognition for senior athletes, a core memory for most graduating athletes. So definitely try and participate in a sport or club next year to make it a great one. And get excited to start the “Go home freshman” chant in the meantime.

Prom
Everyone knows prom and how important it is. It is a great way to be sent off into adulthood, so you should definitely attend because it will be fun no matter what you think or have heard. You will have a good time and it will be well worth the money.

Senior Sunset
This school event happens every year, typically at Elmwood Park High School by the tennis courts. It’s a fun way to say goodbye to high school and something you will remember for the rest of your life. There is lots of food and games that you will surely not want to miss.

But even after all these events there is one that tops them all. The big one we have waited for –
GRADUATION
After many long nights and early mornings, you did it. You made it. The moment has come. The day here – Graduation Day. The ceremony is usually an hour, and there is no better feeling than hearing your name get called and walking across that stage. Every step can be reminiscent of the past, all the good and bad days along with all of your fondest memories. Stepping into adulthood, into our new lives, will unleash much pride, so study hard and finish strong.

Conclusion
There will be many meaningful events next year; these are just the “big names”.
I have loved writing for you guys and am going to miss Intro to Journalism. About right now I would usually be saying “Unit next time, Tigers”. But this is it, so goodbye, Tigers, and for one final time: I am Daniel Dohoney. GO TIGERS!
