Hello Tigers! Today staff reporters Molly Brown and Oliwia Aleksandrowicz will be interviewing four girls and two boys from the EPHS Track and Field team. The coaches for the 2026 season are Coach Ahlmann, Moody, Luciano, Kofi, Vasey, and Arenga. Coach Ahlmann coaches distance: focusing on events like the 800m and 1600m. Coach Moody and Arenga are the jumps coaches: high jump, long jump, and triple jump. Coach Vasey and Luciano are the throwing coaches: shot put and disc. Coach Kofi is the sprints coach: 50m, 100m, and 200m. Now let’s meet the team!
Julia Wolyniec- 10th Grade
When asked what Julia was most excited for this season, she replied “I am most excited to possibly qualify for state this year.” Next when asked what events she runs, she stated “I run the 200 and 55 meters, and occasionally the 4×400.” Lastly, when asked what made her decide to join Track, she stated “I decided to join the track team because my friend Oliwia Aleksandrowicz was doing it.”
Sophia Casella – 11th Grade

When interviewing Sophia about what she was most excited for this season, she answered “I am most excited for outdoor meets. I love to run when it is warm and sunny outside. It is also fun to meet new people.” Next when asked about the events she runs, she stated “I usually run the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, the 4x100m relay, and the 4×200 relay.” When asked Sophia what her goals are this season, she stated “My biggest goal for this season is to make it to state, but some other goals I have are to improve as much as possible and to have fun.”
Boys:
Daniel Dohoney – 12th Grade

When questioning Danny about what he is most excited for this season, he stated “I am most excited to compete and hopefully make it to state.” The next question asked what events he focuses on, he stated “I do the triple jump, 100m, 4x100m and 4x200m.” When Danny was asked whether he will continue Track and Field after high school, he stated “Yes I plan on continuing track after high school, I am committed to St. Norbert College for Track and Field.”
Joseph Rominski – 12th Grade

When asked what Joey was most excited about this season, he answered “I am most excited to get better personally and compete at meets.” Next when asked about the events he runs, he stated “I run the 4x100m, 4x200m, 100m, 200m, 400m, and long jump, but it also depends on what the coaches put me in.” Finally when asked about if he does off season training when not competing for track, he stated “I do not really train off season, though I do stay active and participate in some type of physical activity.”
Throwers:
Kate Kondela – 10th Grade
When asked about what field events Kate throws, she replied “I throw shot put and discus. If EPHS offered hammer throwing, I would want to try it.” The next question we asked was: When asking Kate which event is her favorite, shot put or discus and why, she stated “I like discus better because it’s more rewarding and makes me focus on my form.” Finally, when asked about her goals this season, she stated “My goal for this season is to improve my form for shotput and discus and set more personal records.”
Ewelina Swiderski – 12th Grade

When Ewelina was asked about what field events she throws, she stated “I throw both shot put and discus”. Next when interviewed about what she is most excited about this season, she stated “I am most excited for the track meets and spending time with my friends since it is our last track season together” Finally when Ewelina was asked about her PR, she stated “My personal record for outdoor shot put is 8.36m and my discus PR is about 16.88m”
This is just the beginning of our season, and our coaches have been training our athletes and pushing them to their limits. Our tigers have been working very hard to prepare for the meets ahead. So, come join us at our first home meet at the Tiger Stadium, on April 7th 2026!
