What’s the Best Ice Cream Combo?
My name is Izzy Fernandez and I have an interesting reason why I chose this to be my first article. I took my little brother to a shaved ice place where you can choose your own flavors. He chose vanilla, pink lemonade, and orange. Yes, he ate the whole thing. This combo honestly got me thinking: what’s the best ice cream combo? I received answers from a survey I sent out.
The best ice cream combos
1. Cookies and cream
In my opinion, cookies and cream is the best ice cream flavor. One person said “Cookies and cream with cookie crumbs.” I’ve actually had that and it’s so good. I 100% recommend it. The best cookies and cream ice cream I’ve ever gotten is from “La Michoacana”. For me, I like to order two scoops of cookies and cream ice cream in a cake cone.
2. Ice cream with salty fries or chips
I don’t know about the chip part but ice cream with fries is a must. Whenever I go to Johnnie’s Beef, I always dip my fries in the ice cream. But a pretty basic combo that I’ve tried is vanilla + fries. I’ve never tried ice cream with chips, but I’d be up for trying it. I’ll probably try it with vanilla ice cream and with a classic Lay’s chip.
3. Vanilla with strawberries
Picture this, you’re in an ice cream shop and you don’t know what to get. You see that you can get vanilla ice cream with strawberries. My point is vanilla ice cream with strawberries is the way to go if you have no idea what to get. It’s a basic combo, but it’s so good. Whenever I go to Culver’s or a new ice cream shop, I get two scoops of vanilla ice cream with strawberries.
The worst/weird ice cream combos
1. Anything with bubble gum
I just think bubble gum ice cream is horrible. No matter what you add with it, it’s going to be horrible. Don’t waste your money on BUBBLE GUM ice cream. There was this one combo that made me say “what?”. It was bubble gum with Oreo pieces. I honestly wonder what that tastes like, but it doesn’t sound right.
2. Mint chocolate chip and pickle
When I saw this combo I knew that I had to put this in. I never liked mint chocolate chip OR pickles so to even think about this combo is just gross. I didn’t even know that there was a pickle ice cream flavor until now. I’ve never tried it but I can probably guess it tastes horrible. Mint chocolate chip is just bad. It’s so sweet and for me the flavor is so strange. Every time my family goes to get ice cream my little brother gets mint chocolate chip, and I don’t know why.
3. Superman
I feel like I have to talk about this flavor because it’s so bad. Mint chocolate chip is better than superman. The superhero himself is cool but not his ice cream flavor. I remember I accidentally got superman and I was wondering why it tastes so bad. I thought it was some kind of rainbow ice cream. Superman just looks bad; it’s too bright. I had to look up what’s in superman and it says “cherry, vanilla, and blue moon.” There are other combinations for superman and one includes “cotton candy, lemon, and bubble gum.” Cotton candy with bubble gum? No, thank you. If your favorite ice cream flavor is superman, you need help and don’t come near me.
Tasting: Dunkin’ ice cream and drink combos
I asked my two lovely friends Jordyn and Alex to see if they wanted to go to Dunkin’ and get ice cream and of course they said yes. Jordyn got cookies and cream with cookies and cold brew, Alex got Jamoca with mint chocolate chip, and I got cookie dough and vanilla. I asked for their reviews.
Jordyn’s Combo Review
Alright guys, it’s Jordyn, what up? So Izzy’s having me write a review about my combo and, honestly, this was so bomb, like I loved it so much. It was so good. I definitely think you should try it. We went to Dunkin’ on Grand and it was a 10/10. I recommend it unless you don’t like the flavors.
Alex’s Combo Review
So when Izzy and I got drinks, right after we paid, we got one of the drinks within a minute. We waited another minute for the other drinks—perfect service. Then we got three medium ice creams. Two of them were good, but the third one was small, not medium, and I got mint chip and coffee, but in the cup was only mint. I don’t know how he messed it up because Izzy said “Jamoca and mint chip, please, in a medium cup.” But anyways, we told the worker, and he changed it for a medium with my two flavors. As I sat down to eat my ice cream, I realized there was a hair in it. Generic disgust. Drinks: 10/10 but ice cream: 2/10.
Izzy’s Combo Review
The drink that I got was the Dragon Fruit Refresher with green tea. I always get it whenever I go to Dunkin’ and it’s honestly 10/10. When we got to the ice cream area that’s in Dunkin’, I’m going to be honest, I had no idea what to get. I was the last one to figure out what to get. But I saw cookie dough and vanilla and I just went with that. Pretty basic but I didn’t want to get the same thing as Jordyn. My ice cream combo was pretty boring and it just tasted like I got vanilla with chunks of cookie dough.
In conclusion, people have very interesting ice cream combos and I am excited to be able to express how I feel about some of these combos – from the best combos to the worst combos. Thank you for reading my first article!
