Hey, Tigers! Santa Claus is coming to town, and we were wondering what you want most from him! Remember, he knows who has been naughty or nice. We went through our Google Form and chose six cheerful Tigers to ask what they wanted along with a few fun questions. Here’s what some of the Tigers asked for this holiday season.
Starting with the babies of school, otherwise known as the freshmen, we asked Maya Gabrys what her top ask is from Santa and she delivered. Take a peek at what she wants this holiday season:
Maya Gabrys:
- What is your #1 item on your list and why?
“My number #1 item on my list is 361 Degrees BIG3 4.0 Quick Reverse court shoes for volleyball. I have had my current volleyball shoes since 8th grade and I think it’s time to get new ones, so I hope I receive these for Christmas!”
- What does Christmas mean to you?
“Christmas means a lot to my family and I. My family and I decorate our house very festively. I exchange gifts with friends and family and have a delicious Christmas Eve dinner with my family. We have a lot of Polish food on our table, which is very delicious. Plus, my friends and I always have this tradition before Christmas: I invite over a couple friends and we make gingerbread cookies and have a lot of fun!”
- Do you think you’re on the nice or naughty list this year? Why?
“I think I am on the nice list because I never fail to bring a smile to everyone’s face. I bring humor, positive vibes, and enjoy the Christmas Spirit. I am a hard working student, just like the elves!”
Next, speaking for the amazing sophomores of the school is Jailani Rodriguez. She had some promising responses! Take look at what she wants this year:
Jailani Rodriguez:
- What is the #1 item on your list and why?
“The thing I want most on my Christmas list is the Lululemon dance studio joggers because they’re just so cute ”
- What does Christmas mean to you?
“Christmas, to me, is the time of giving and showing your appreciation for people by giving them something or even expressing your gratitude towards them.”
- Do you think you’re on the nice or naughty list this year? Why?
“I think I’m on the nice list because I’ve been very good this year and I’ve been very nice to people.”
Next up, we asked the (not so) big kid junior EPHS pro golfer Sammy Labarbera some fun holiday questions. He has some interesting answers! Take a look!
Salvatore Labarbera:
- What is the #1 item on your list and why?
“My number 1 item I want for Christmas is probably a new golf bag (lol) with my name on it, which is cool.”
- What does Christmas mean to you?
“Christmas to me means being with friends and family during the holiday season. It is the time for joy, and I believe it is the best time of year to enjoy life.”
- Do you think you’re on the nice or naughty list this year? Why?
“Ummm not sure TBH, but I think I would be on the nice list. I have been a good student and I think I have been good enough for Santa.”
Next Up we have another junior Damian Vojtech. See what he will be wishing for this holiday.
Damian Vojtech:
1. What is the #1 item on your list and why?
“My number 1 item on my list is a video game called Black Ops 6 because all my friends are playing it and I want to play with them.”
2. What does Christmas mean to you?
“To me, Christmas means a time to get away from school for 2 weeks and spend time with family.”
3. Do you think you’re on the nice or naughty list this year? Why?
“I would consider myself on the nice list this year because I helped others a lot this year.”
Finally, we asked our senior citizen Liva Sina what she will be asking for this holiday season. Take a look at what her old heart desires this year!
Livia Sina:
1. What is the #1 item on your list and why?
“The #1 on my Christmas list is a new phone, specifically the iphone 16. I currently have the 13 and it keeps shutting down, which makes me really, really mad. Additionally, I have a very tiny amount of storage left. My last reason is that I am going off to college next year and a new phone is a necessity for this new journey. “
2. What does Christmas mean to you?
“Christmas to me means good food, gifts, and family.”
3. Do you think you’re on the nice or naughty list this year? Why?
“I think I’m on the nice list this year because I’ve helped tutor many of my friends with their school work.”
As a special surprise we decided to interview one of the most loved teachers, Mr. Martinek. Let’s take a look at what he is asking for!
Ian Martinek:
1. What is the #1 item on your list and why?
“Dingwall Combustion 6-string bass guitar, pau ferro fingerboard, black pickguard, 2-tone blackburst gloss finish”
2.What does Christmas mean to you?
“Christmas is about enjoying the beauty of nature. I know I’m in the minority, but I LOVE the snow and the cold, so when there is actually snow on Christmas, I am at the height of my power. After that, it’s about spending quality time with the people I care about, family and friends alike.”
3. Do you think you’re on the nice or naughty list this year? Why?
“Hopefully not the naughty list, but I have been letting my emotions get the best of me this year. I’m working to bring myself back to the Jedi path in the new year (“There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony.”).
The Winning Category
Now that we’ve heard what some specific Tigers want this holiday season, we wanted to also report on what other sorts of gifts everyone else is hoping for! We sent out a Google Form asking students to categorize their top gift preference.
Coming in first, taking 36.7% of the votes, was clothing. The second category with the highest percentage was technology (like new devices, headphones, etc.) The category taking 3rd was items pertaining to hobbies for sports, art & crafts, etc.
Sarah: “I was not shocked by this. My holiday wish list is mostly clothing, too! I also expected this because as people get older the demand for clothing is higher. Most of us want to keep up with the latest trends and also just need some new clothes!”
Martyna: “I am not surprised that the top pick was clothes. I feel like clothes are a very common ask for teenagers since the trends change often. I would say that clothing is my top ask from Santa this year, as well!”
We hope you enjoyed our holiday special! We wish all Tigers happy holidays! Remember to spread some holiday cheer and that Santa is always watching!
